MADAGASCAR/SOUTH AFRICA
Jacob Zuma still driving a hard bargain with TGV
The President of South Africa Jacob Zuma still doesn’t want his country to sign the roadmap to exit the Madagascar crisis concocted by the team of the mediator, Joaquim Chissano acting in the name of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). As it happens, the international community and the Malagasy sides have still not officially approved this roadmap for several weeks. Jacob Zuma considered from the outset that the President of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina known as TGV, had taken power in 2009 by force and doesn’t want to go back on this view. He therefore insists that the ousted President Marc Ravalomanana should be allowed to return to Antananarivo without conditions before any future election.
